This brightly colored, well-made wooden toy can be raced around without tipping over. It can go up one shallow step without losing ground, and the 16 lightweight yellow wheels make a gentle clacking sound as they move against the body of the caterpillar. It's made of three basic shapes--circles, spheres, and rectangles with rounded ends. The body parts are connected loosely by short wooden pegs, so the caterpillar can be stacked up onto itself and still roll--great for experimenting and problem solving.
