Hi, My name is passorn and I have 3 children. Andrea 5.5yr old and twins boy Benjamin and Fabian 3.7yr old.

My daughter Andrea has no problem with her speech but twins. Both of them now in kidergarten 3 hours daily. Benjamin his character very happy and cheer full boy but he seems like dont want to talk all his communication through his body language, like when he want something he will pull my hand and point to what he wants if I give him what he doesnt want he just scream. Currently he seeing OTG and speech Therapist progress are on going. He can imitate sound like yummmm or owl sound and surprise when I try to hold his hand and tracing alphabet A B C he can pronounce most of alphabet. but when its come to form the word he doesnt want to cooperate, but one of his action that I concern is he will flap his hands when he feel exited I really dont know that is symptom of ASD and now we just need to wait to make an appointment of an assessment which take very long. For fabian is different from Ben his memory very good he can recon all upper and lower alphabet and guess what he can spell words out and write it by himself. We did teach him simple words from book since he was 2 since then he became like to spell words so much. Problem now is he doesnt want to communicate much and he can answer simple question like I ask him " do you want to go to toilet" he will answer but very short like no thats all and most of time he will say only words that come from book or we teach him, he did sing song (which is he like music) but sometime he try to say something but we couldnt understand him much. He not really make eyes contact when I try to talk to him he will look around and now we also waiting for his assessment which is coming soon. I really tired and frustrated as I am a working mom sometimes and I really worry about this twins so thats why I seek for help.

Please help me.

Hello passorn,

It's challenging enough to be a mother to three young children, to have twins, and to be working outside of the home. For you there are concerns for both of your boys' development. I think you are making very good observations about your sons. Yes, their limited speech and communication skills are of concern as are hand-flapping and lack of eye contact with you. Did you say you have an evaluation appointment scheduled for one son but not yet for the other? Is there any agency that can provide you with some help right now? Can anyone stay with your children occasionally so you can take some breaks for yourself? It is so normal to feel worried, tired, and upset. Please reach out to friends, relatives, and providers to get some more support for yourself while you are waiting to learn more about the help your sons need.

Best wishes to you and your family.
